About Ian Werkheiser

Ian Werkheiser is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Graduate Program Coordinator for the Master of Science degree in Bioethics, and co-Director of the Center for Collaboration and Ethics at UTRGV. His research is currently focused on the interaction between emerging technology on the one hand and communities’ responses to environmental problems (particularly around food systems) on the other. This work brings in environmental philosophy, the philosophy of food, philosophy of technology, bioethics, and social epistemology. As part of this research, he co-created the Digital Worlds Workshop to examine issues in our increasingly digital environments.
